Sales for 125 Greenwich Launch as Construction Resumes

Rafael Viñoly‘s highly anticipated project at 125 Greenwich Street in Downtown Manhattan has entered sales just as construction resumes following the acquisition of a $450 million construction loan. The site had been idle as plans for the 88-storey tower went through several design and massing revisions, seemingly settling on a height of 278 metres.

Bizzi & Partners and Vector Group are developing the slender skyscraper, whose curved glass corners and full-height windows are prime selling points. Studios in the 273-unit building are starting at a cool $1.2 million, which gets you anywhere from 418 and 665 square feet to roam. Three-bedroom layouts offer up significantly more breathing room, with spaces ranging from 1,932 to 3,960 square feet going for over $4.6 million.

Residents unable to grab a unit on one of the upper levels can still bask in the glory of the elevated panoramic views from the top three floors, which will be set aside for amenities like private entertaining and dining spaces, a fitness centre, and a 50-foot lap pool.

Rafael Viñoly’s supertall and super skinny design for 432 Park Avenue made the architect a household name in Manhattan. His vision for 125 Greenwich Street maintains the slim profile of that tower, but opts for a different exterior expression. Instead of the windowed grid aesthetic that dominates the facade of 432 Park Avenue, 125 Greenwich features a predominantly glazed building skin arranged around a pair of full-length concrete structural supports.
