125 Greenwich’s yacht-inspired interior design

January 2, 2019 / lindy

Yacht design is no longer just reserved for the ultra-wealthy who cruise the seas.

Thanks to interior designers like March & White, who are doing the interiors at Michael Shvo’s super-tall condo in Lower Manhattan, 125 Greenwich, the comforts of the high sea are coming home to land. The new trend, reported by Forbes, is sweeping through residential design.

Billionaire Robert Stiller of E-Z Wider and Keurig Green Mountain coffee is among the trailblazers paying up to make their homes look more like the glorified boats.

His interior designer Remi Tessier teamed up with an engineering company known for building superyachts, metrica, to build a curving staircase in his Florida home.

Meanwhile, at 125 Greenwich, the designers are borrowing from yacht design especially in the building’s smaller units where the use of a headboard or the formulation of a small kitchen in a nook of the apartment helps create defined spaces. Check out more photos of the design in the slideshow below. [Forbes] — Erin Hudson

Editor’s Note: The original story misidentified Michael Shvo as the developer of 125 Greenwich. He left the project in 2016 and Bizzi & Partners Development is now the sole developer.
